A GROUP of kind-hearted employees have put their energy into raising money for Alzheimer’s Society.

Members of staff at E.ON’s head offices in Coventry have baked, cooked, dressed-up and -down in an effort to raise more than £40,000 for Alzheimer’s Society.

The company and charity developed a partnership last summer with the aim of donating £200,000 to the charity’s dementia support workers by the middle of next year.

Satti Bhagrath, who works for E.ON and volunteers as a Charity Champion, said: “I’m really proud of the way colleagues have taken up the challenge of raising money for Alzheimer’s Society, whether that’s by baking cakes, buying those cakes or taking on their own personal challenge to run a marathon or cycle the length of the county.

“The money raised by each of these activities, big or small, adds up and gets us closer to our £200,000 target. It’s really heartening to think that we’ve already managed between us to raise £40,000.”

Carolyn McDonald, Alzheimer’s Society community fundraiser for Coventry and Warwickshire, added: “Being diagnosed with dementia can be a frightening and overwhelming experience.

“Our dementia support workers can help by working directly with people in this situation and their carers to maintain their independence, improve their sense of wellbeing and provide healthy lifestyle advice.”

She added the charity is very grateful for E.ON’s fundraising efforts.
