A NEW trail named after Coventry’s prehistoric resident Dippy the Dinosaur is set to help Coventrians discover the city centre’s own past.
Starting this Saturday, five venues receiving funding from the organisation will take part in the ‘Dippy Trail’ as part of National Lottery Open Week.
The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Dippy’s new home, will act as one of the trail venues along with The Wave, Coventry Cathedral, St Mary’s Guildhall, and Coventry Transport Museum.
On the last two Saturdays and Sundays in March, visitors will be able to search for ten hidden mini Dippys in the venues.
Special Dippy maps, which visitors can follow to learn more about the city’s history, can be picked up at any of the five venues.
The council’s cabinet member for housing and communities, Coun David Welsh, said: “We hope this event will encourage people to explore Coventry’s vibrant culture and learn more about our incredible venues.
“It’s free to enjoy this trail and to visit Dippy the dino itself, so residents and visitors really can make a fun-packed day out of this.”
