Wheelwright Lane School gets £10,000 cash boost

WHEELWRIGHT Lane Primary School has been chosen by Tesco shoppers in Coventry to receive a £10,000 grant.

Shoppers across selected stores took part in a lucky dip to find specially created gold versions of its blue voting token, with the amount being given away in gold tokens worth £1million in grants to local good causes.

Wheelright Lane was one of three charities up for the vote in the Coventry Jubilee Crescent Express store to receive one of the £10,000 Golden Grants, and they came away with the cash.

Some of the cash will go towards their pre and post-school wrap-around club.

Headteacher Stacey Rutherford said: “Our wrap-around club has become increasingly popular, particularly as more parents require this service to enable them to work.

“In the current climate, our families rely on wrap club and we are excited to be able to provide our children with new outdoor and indoor resources.

“We are keen to develop a homely environment where our children can relax and enjoy the sociable start and end to their day.”
