STUDENTS at WMG Academy Coventry are today celebrating a 100 per cent A* – E pass rate in BTEC engineering and 100 per cent across all A-levels.

The Warwick Manufacturing Group academy also saw 95 per cent of engineering students awarded three merits or higher in BTEC extended diploma in engineering, and more than three quarters got A*- C across all A-levels.

All Computer Science and English A-level students achieved grades A*-C, with 88 per cent of Maths students, 87.5 per cent of Biology students and 86 per cent of Business Studies students achieving grades A*-C.

Matt Brady, principal of WMG Academy Coventry, said: “We are absolutely delighted with this year’s results and extremely proud of all our students who have worked incredibly hard for two years to achieve a 100 per cent pass rate across the board in A-level and BTEC qualifications.

“These results are entirely down to the commitment and determination of our sixth formers and all the staff involved in their development.”

Students at the academy in Mitchell Avenue have secured apprenticeships with companies including the National Grid, Jaguar Land Rover and Severn Trent, with others heading off to universities including Warwick, Leicester, Bath and Hull.

WMG Academy for Young Engineers provides GCSE, A-level and BTEC education for 14 to 19-year-olds.

It opened in 2014 and its first A-level and cohort left in 2016, with 100 per cent going on to university, apprenticeships or work.

The academy specialises in science, technology, engineering and maths.
