Woman arrested in connection with double murder in Coventry

Coventry Editorial 21st Nov, 2018   0

A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of assisting a man they believe played a part in a double murder.

The 21-year-old was arrested at 8.40am on Tuesday (November 20) from an address in the Tile Hill area of Coventry.

She has been questioned in connection with the murder of 28-year-old Daniel Shaw and the disappearance of Johnny Robbins, aged 33, who is also believed to have been murdered.

It is suspected she may have assisted a man understood to be a prime suspect in the case.

She has been bailed until a date next month − with conditions including passport surrender and to live and sleep at a specified address − when she will return for further questioning.

Enquiries into the murders continue.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for a man understood to be a potential key witness to come forward − and have also reassured the community that information can be passed to police anonymously.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Mallett from the force’s Homicide Team, said: “We have made significant progress with this complex investigation… this arrest is the latest development.

“I have a dedicated team of detectives working on this investigation but we need the community of Coventry to stand up to those causing fear and intimidation where you live and stop this from happening again.

“Two innocent men have lost their lives in the most horrific circumstances − we’re fighting to get justice for their families and I’d urge local people to rally round and support our investigation.”

Daniel Shaw, aged 28, was found dead with gunshot injuries to his chest at around 11:15pm on Sunday March 25 in Copland Place in Tile Hill area of the city.

Two men, aged 22 and 47, were arrested on suspicion of his murder and have been released pending further investigation.

Officers also believe 33-year-old Johnny Robbins − who went missing on March 21 − has been murdered after being kidnapped and tortured. His body has not been found.
