A WOMAN has died after her car crashed into a tree in Binley near Coombe Abbey on Sunday morning.

The crash happened on Brinklow Road in Binley shortly before 8.15am when a silver Chevrolet Lacetti left the road and collided with a tree.

Despite the best efforts of West Midlands Ambulance Service the woman, who is the only occupant of the car, was declared dead at the scene.

The B4428 was closed to traffic until 11.30am for collision examiners to attend the scene and for recovery of the car.

And now police are hoping to trace a couple who flagged down a passing motorcyclist near the scene in order for the emergency services to be called.

The couple left the scene without leaving their details and police believe they may have valuable information that could find a cause to the crash.

Police would also like to hear from anyone else who was travelling along the B4428 Brinklow Road near Coombe Abbey between 8-8.15am on Sunday morning and who may have seen the silver car which was travelling towards Coventry.

The couple and any other people with information are asked to contact Warwickshire Police on 101 and speak to the investigating officer PC Pat Kearney.
