RAIL users are being advised to check before they travel with work to improve future journeys set to disrupt the service between Coventry and Leamington Spa.
Several major projects will be taking place in various places across the line from tomorrow (July 29) and August 6, meaning different sections of the railway will need to close.
Network Rail’s £11million project to strengthen a Victorian-built railway viaduct which carries trains over the River Avon near Leamington Spa is among the work to be carried out.
Upgrades to the 179-year-old structure will see damaged and missing bricks replaced, the mortar repointed and its nine arches strengthened.
A 47-metre-long bridge will also installed in Kenilworth so tracks for HS2 can be built underneath the existing rail route.
Over the nine days, different sections of the railway will need to close.
A rail replacement service will be in operation for services which are cancelled.
West Midlands Railway customer experience director, Jonny Wiseman, said: “The strengthening of a viaduct at Leamington Spa is crucial for the safety and upkeep of the railway.
“Services may be disrupted while the work is being completed and I thank passengers for their patience.”
