FRIDAYS Coventry will be spreading some Christmas cheer around the city next week as it holds its ‘one pound panto’- and guests shall go to the ‘football.’
The play, titled ‘Cinderballer’, will be performed from 8pm between Monday and Friday, December 4 and 8 (excluding Wednesday) at Coventry Methodist Central Hall and will be available to enter for just £1.
There will also be a 4pm matinee showing on Saturday, December 9.
It aims to be able to give all the city’s youngsters the chance to see an affordable pantomime as many struggle due to the cost of living crisis.
‘Cinderballer’ acts as a modern spin on the classic ‘Cinderella’ tale, with the cast featuring Coventry City legend Dave Busst.
In this version, Cinders is a female footballer who wants to make it to the ball- but rather than a dance, her dream is actually to be in the football final as in her kingdom girls can’t play.
To put on the fun-filled Christmas panto, Fridays set up a JustGiving page to raise £3,500.
Fridays Coventry was formed in 2019 to prevent knife crime and gang violence in the city.
