FOOTBALL: HOT prospect Cian Harries is the latest academy graduate to commit his future to the Sky Blues after putting pen-to-paper on a contract extension.
The 19-year-old has become a permanent member of the Sky Blues first team squad this season and will remain at the club until June 2020 after signing a three-and-a-half year extension.
Harris, who plays centre-back, joined the Sky Blues after being released by Aston Villa at just 14-years of age but since then he has been determined to prove his doubters wrong.
He has progressed through the Academy to captain the club’s Under-18s before making the step up to Under-21 level.
The Wales Under-19 international produced a series of impressive displays for the club’s developments which led to full first team debut against Oldham on the final day of last season.
Since then Harries has gone on to make another nine first team appearances so far this campaign and manager Mark Venus is looking forward to seeing more from the teenager in the years ahead.
He said: “The club are trying to build a solid foundation for the future, and doing that by investing in both homegrown and acquired talent on long-term deals.
“We are grateful that Cian and his advisors have put faith in the football club and have committed to a future here.
“Cian is another one of our talented Academy graduates to sign an extended deal and that is a show of belief in the club model.
“I would like to thank everybody involved in the negotiation process and look forward to watching Cian develop his career this season and beyond.”
