Alvis Sporting looking to recruit ahead of new season

Coventry Editorial 26th Jun, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

ALVIS Sporting are recruiting players ahead of the 2014/15 season as the club prepares to start a new era under new management.

Rob Kimberlin and Nigel Starkey have replaced the out-going Damian Cassidy as Alvis prepare for life in Division One of the newly formed Midland Football League.

The first pre-season session was held at Finham Park school in Green Lane on Thursday evening and sessions will continue to take place every Thursday at 6.30pm.

A friendly has been arranged against Rugby Town on July 8 (7.30pm) to give any new players a chance to impress the new management.

Alvis chairman, Don Corrigan, paid tribute to the work of former manager Damian Cassidy who left the club at the end of last season after seven successful years in charge.

“On behalf of the club I would like to thank Damian for the tremendous amount of work and effort he has put into his time here.

“He brought unprecedented success to the football club, and I wish him good luck for the future and he will always be welcome at Green Lane.

“Rob and Nigel both have played major parts in the success of the club over the past few years, and deserve the chance to show what they can do and lead the club onto it’s next stage of development.”

Any players interested in attending the pre-season sessions can contact Rob on 0794051127 or Nigel on 07875556029.
