FOOTBALL: NEW Hinckley boss Dale Belford was handed the perfect start to his managerial career on Saturday as Coventry Alvis were beat 5-0 at Green Lane.
Belford gave league debuts to goalkeeper Tyrell Belford, former Sky Blue midfielder Kevin Thornton, Dominic Perkins, and Josh Willis.
And the quartet slotted in well to continue the visitors remarkable goalscoring record – which now stands at 401 goals in 127 games since joining the Midland Football League in 2014.
It took Hinkley just two minutes to open the scoring when Richard Lavery took advantage of a long throw to net with a near post header.
Though Alvis played good football, they were unable to threaten the Hinkley goal.
The visitors soon doubled their lead on 23 minutes when Steve Hart was brought down on the edge of the penalty area, and Thornton duly converted the free kick.
Alvis keeper Jack Tregarth made several fine saves to keep the scoreline respectable before half time.
But three goals in the second half put pay to any glimmer of hope Alvis had of rescuing a point.
Josh Willis converting a cross from Isaac Cooper on 53 minutes while Hinkley added two further goals within two minutes of eachother when Jake Healy scored from a rebound before Willis teed the ball up for Hart to slot home.
The result ensured Hinkley moved to third place in the first division of the Midland Football League.
Coventry Alvis return to cup tie football on Saturday when they entertain Folly Lane in the second round of the CT Cup at Green Lane.
