COVENTRY Alvis were put to the sword by unbeaten Moor Green Academy, losing 3-1 to leave the club without a win in Midlands Football League Division Two.
Playing at Boldmere St. Michaels’ Trevor Brown Memorial Ground, Alvis were quickly behind on the road after just seven minutes, when Moor Green were awarded a penalty.
Rivel Mardenborough stepped up to the plate to take the spot kick and duly dispatched from 12 yards, despite Jack Hartopp going the right way.
A second goal followed on 23 minutes when Arman Khooshkoo, who replaced Mardenborough after an injury, played through Stan Annaebonan with an incisive through ball.
Annaebonan stood up an Alvis defender before shuffling the ball past his man and firing into the bottom corner with precision.
Romanian striker Costas Lautaru compounded Coventry’s first-half misery when keeping hold of possession after an initial poor touch, before rounding Hartopp and tapping home.
After an uneventful start to the second period, Alvis pulled a goal back through Tobi Ojutalayo, when the winger fired home a rebound.
The goal prompted a series of further chances to make Moor Green sweat, but the hosts held on for victory.
Alvis hope to earn a first win of the campaign when visiting Walsall side Lane Head on Saturday (3pm).
