COVENTRY & North Warwickshire maintained their 100 per cent winning start to the season after beating Old Halesonians 3-0 at Coventry University on Saturday.
Both sides were closely matched in the opening 25 minutes and the hosts had Adam Merrell in goal to thanks for keeping the scoreline level.
Coventry finally broke the deadlock when defender Matt Kettley calmly converted a penalty corner after Shaheen Cummings had been impeded at the top of the circle.
Early in the second half Coventry doubled their advantage after Dominic Bell won a penalty corner which he converted himself moments later.
And despite losing cummings to a yellow card the hosts wrapped up the points late on when Bell found Chris Sewell unmarked in the opposition circle and his clever deflection gave the keeper no chance.
A second win sits Coventry joint top of the table alongside Stone and Burton ahead of this weekend’s tough trip to Worcester where they will be looking to make it three wins out of three.
