COVENTRY Godiva Harriers athlete Sophie Hurst claimed a third straight race victory in the Midland Women’s Cross Country League to win the individual title.
Hurst stormed to victory by more than two minutes in the third league fixture of the season at Top Barn in Worcester.
The Coventry athlete secured the individual Division Two title with a race to spare.
Just behind Hurst, junior athlete Alison Kennedy finished an impressive third on debut for the club.
Completing Godiva’s A team were Alicia Roberts (16th) and Shona Murray (59th, sixth junior) as Coventry scored 79 points to place third overall on the day and in the league standings.
Further back, Jayne Mumford (72nd, 40th master), Dewi Dankmeyer (108th) and Flavie Rasson (141st) all completed the race for Harriers in a field of 238 runners in freezing conditions.
Godiva’s men raced at Warley Woods in Birmingham and produced another strong performance with Jo McLeod (49th) and Scott Hudspith (54th) both impressing.
Further back, Nick Wolley (101st), Lenny Shail (105th), Andy Boon (124th, 25th master) and Teklay Alemu (125th) completed the A team line-up.
The A team placed 14th on the day and 12th overall with the club firmly in a relegation battle ahead of the final fixture next month.
Godiva’s B team were led home by Sam Marshall (129th, 26th master) with Hossien Mohammediah (124th, 30th master), James Wright (151st) and Phil Gould (152nd, 35th master).
This meant the masters A team finished seventh on the day and sit sixth overall.
And Matt Hadlum (179th) and Clark Roberts (191st, 58th master) completed the B team who placed ninth on the day and sit sixth overall.
Close behind, Michael Todd (201st, 65th master), Richard Todd (202nd, 66th master) and Peter Eccleston (209th, 71st master) completed the masters B team who finished seventh on the day and sit second overall.
A host of other Godiva runners also finished the race including: William Averill (210th), David Cooper (211th), Adam Jackson (215th, 43rd junior), Jason Brotherhood (227th, 81st master), William Chalmers (229th, 46th junior), Anthony Mitrofaniuk (230th, 82nd master), Sam Katanda (235th, 85th master), Joe Cox (239th on debut), Waising Yip (244th, 91st master), Iain Souttar (249th), Lee Connelly (251st), Nathan Jones (264th), John Treadwell (271st, 109th master) and Martin Gittins (275th, 113th master).
