ATHLETICS - Coventry Godiva Harriers in cross country league action

COVENTRY Godiva Harriers returned to cross country league action for the third meeting of the season at Warley Woods.

The ladies were first to run as Sammy Puri led the the team home in 86th place with debutant Izzy Boneham next to cross the line for Godiva in 138th.

And Jayne Mumford in 159th (62nd master) and Daisey Davitt in 161st (33rd junior) completed the A team which all but ensured the ladies a place in Division Two next season.

There were also excellent runs from Sophia Charters in 168th, Dewi Dankmeyer in 174th, Victoria Wilson in 175th, Jodie Greenfield in 183rd and Shona Murray in 186th (35th junior).

In the men’s race, Scott Hudspith led Godiva home in 24th followed by Dan Clark in 32nd (fifth master) and Lucas Bennett in 46th.

And Joe Mcleod in 57th, Andy Boon in 116th (28th master) and Kevin Otieno in 129th (13th junior) completed the A team with Godiva ninth on the day and 11th in the overall standings.




The men’s B team were led home by Phil Goul in 138th (34th master), Adam Jackson in 149th (35th junior), Peter Eccleston in 153rd (43rd master), David Cooper in 169th, Matthew Hadlum in 179th and Michael Todd in 186th (62nd master) to finish eighth.

There were also strong performances from Sam Katanda in 200th (72nd master), Maddox Ibrahim in 215th, Jason Brotherhood in 219th (85th master), Chris Hurst in 223rd (89th master), Wais Yip in 230th (93rd master), Nathan Jones in 231st, Martin Gittins in 232nd (94th master) and Matt Danes in 252nd (111th master).
