ATHLETICS - Coventry Godiva Harriers reach midway point of cross country season

COVENTRY Godiva Harriers reached the midway point of the cross country season following the completion of the second fixture.

Godiva’s ladies raced at Aldridge Airport in Walsall with the men in action in Betley in Staffordshire.

And Coventry pair Sophie Hurst and Amelia Starling secured another remarkable one-two finish from gun to tape.

An unchanged A team saw Alicia Roberts finish 12th with Zaneta Pochylska 61st (33rd master)

This meant the ladies finished second on the day on 76 points and sit third overall just 25 points behind second place.

Other Godiva finishers were Shona Murray in 74th (seventh junior), Jayne Mumford in 91st (51st master), Dewi Dankmeyer in 94th, Jodie Greenfield in 108th, Flavie Rasson in 154th and Isobella Khan in 185th.




Elsewhere, the men were led home by Jo McLeod in 43rd with Scott Hudspith hot on his heels in 45th while Lenny Shail finished 69th on his return.

Further back, Teklay Alemu crossed the line in 77th with Hossien Mohammediha in 98th (20th master).

And Phil Gould finished 110th (25th master) to complete the A team’s finishers with Sam Marshall just behind in 111th (26th master).


The A team finished 12th on the day and sit 11th overall some 160 points away from the relegation places.

Following Marshall for the B team were Oscar Jarman in 126th (33rd junior), Adam Jackson in 135th (39th junior), Pete Eccleston in 143rd (35th master), Matt Hadlum in 167th and Sam Katanda in 170th (46th master).

The B team finished sixth on the day and sit fifth overall.

And Eccleston also competed for the masters A team who finished seventh on the day and sit fifth overall.

Also running for the masters squad were Richard Todd in 171st (47th master), Michael Todd in 172nd (48th master), Jason Brotherhood in 177th (51st master) as the B team finished second on the day and sit second overall.

Other Godiva finishers were Iain Souttar in 188th on debut, Waising Yip in 195th (62nd master) and Martin Gittins in 218th (81st master).
