COVENTRY Godiva Harriers celebrated success at the Warwickshire Cross-Country Championships held at Solihull Riding Club.
Godiva’s senior men’s team won gold with 25 points as Dan Clarke took individual silver while Scott Hudspith, Joe McLeod and Lenny Shail all ran superbly.
Clarke’s fine silver helped the men to team gold with Hudspith in fifth, McLeod in seventh and Shail in 11th.
Coventry’s senior women’s team also managed a podium finish as Amelia Starling in fourth, Alicia Roberts in 11th and Dewi Dankmeyer in 27th left the ladies on 42 points.
And Godiva’s under-20 men’s team also came away with a medal after claiming bronze.
The team of Adam Jackson in 13th, William Chalmers in 16th and Eidlis Kabango in 17th saw the under-20 athletes finish third overall.
Godiva’s under-15 girls’ team produced a fine run to miss out on a medal by just three points after finishing fourth in the standings.
And Shona Murray finished an impressive sixth as Coventry’s only representative in the under-20 women’s race.
In the women’s masters race, Jayne Mumford 21st, Paige Zhang-Green 42nd and Angelica Martinez Leyva 57th helped Coventry finish 11th overall – the team’s highest finish for a number of years.
After Godiva’s men’s team won gold, Nick Woolley 12th, David Cooper 16th, Harvey Speed 17th and James Wright 22nd would have won silver with club only able to submit one team in the race.
Further back, Matt Hadlum 25th, Iain Souttar 26th, William Averill 29th, Lee Connelly 40th and Nathan Jones 42nd all finished the race.
Godiva’s men’s masters team finished an agonising fourth as Andy Boon fourth, Sam Marshall ninth, Clark Roberts 16th and Pete Eccleston 20th saw Coventry finish on 49 points.
However, despite finishing on the same total as Nuneaton, Godiva’s fourth scoring runner finished lower than Nuneaton’s to just miss out on a medal.
Fellow masters runners Sam Katanda 24th, Anthony Mitrofanuik 27th, Joe Chalmers 29th, Waising Yip 37th, Dale Ball 42nd, John Treadwell 59th, Martin Gittins 68th and Gary Flude 80th all completed the race.
