ATHLETICS - Flint claims race victory as Godiva Harriers impress

ALICE Flint secured her first race win of the season as the Coventry Godiva Harriers athlete finished top of the podium in the latest Midland Women’s XC League Division Two meeting at Aldridge Airport in Walsall.

Flint was first across the line in a time of 25 minutes 19 seconds and was closely followed by fellow Godiva runner Amelia Starling who finished third in 25 mins 48 secs.

And Alicia Roberts came home in 15th just ahead of Sophie Hurst in 17th who continued her fine first year as a Godiva athlete to complete the A team.

This meant Coventry placed first overall for the fixture but remain second in the overall standings ahead of the final meeting at Coombe Abbey




Next home for Godiva was Becca Leadbeater in 21st with Jayne Mumford 70th (36th master), Sophia Charters 84th and Rachel Aldrich 87th to complete the B team lineup who sit top of their division.

Godiva runners Vicky Wilson (117th), Dewi Dankmeyer (133rd), Angelica Levya (138th), Charlotte Power (151st), Rhea Porwal (188th and eighth junior) and Lamita Abbas on debut (228th and ninth junior) all completed the course.


Godiva’s men’s team were in action at Warley Woods in the Birmingham and District Invitation Cross Country League.

And leading the charge was Scott Hudspith in 26th who was closely followed by Will Fuller in 33rd as the pair produced excellent runs.

Further back, Joe McLeod was 66th with Ed Griffiths 104th, Damien Chamberfort 116th and Dan Dalton 127th to complete the A team lineup.

The A team placed 10th on the day and remain seventh overall in the standings.

And the B team were led home by Sam Marshall in 141st followed by Ben Tran in 164th (32nd master), Pete Eccleston in 175th (41st master), Kevin Otieno 182nd (50th junior), David Cooper 200th and Michael Todd 204th (59th master).

The B team finished seventh on the day and now sit fourth in the overall standings.

Godiva’s other finishers were: Nathan Jones (209th), Matt Hadlum (216th), John Treadwell (218th), William Averill (220th), Michael Katsoulis (223rd), Ben Hoskings (227th), Waising Yip (232nd and 76th master), Muhammed Ibrahim (233rd), Jacob Jones (242nd), Richard Todd (246th) and Thiago de Modena (247th).
