JULIE Emmerson won gold running for Coventry Godiva Harriers in the Warwickshire Cross Country Championships senior women’s race after a fine individual performance at Welkin Farm in Easenhall.
Emmerson crossed the line in just 24 minutes 39 seconds to claim overall victory in the women’s under-20’s, seniors and masters race and finished 13 seconds clear of her closest challenger.
And she was followed by Alice Flint who came home second to win silver in 25 mins 49 secs with Sophie Hurst further back in 20th (fourth under-20 athlete) after she crossed the line in 28 mins 50 secs.
In hot pursuit was Rebecca Leadbeater (23rd, 29 mins 9 secs), Alicia Roberts (26th, 29 mins 45 secs), Sally Boon (31st, 30 mins 14 secs) and Samantha Puri (32nd, 30 mins 16 secs).
Further back were Rosie Cherry (56th), Jayne Mumford (67th), Dewi Dankmeyer (73rd), Victoria Wilson (81st), Angelica Martinez Leyva (95th), Rhea Porwal (112th) and Charlotte Power (113th).
Impressive performances all round saw Godiva’s under-20 and senior women’s A teams both win team gold.
And the men’s senior A team followed suit with team gold whilst the men’s masters won bronze as Jo McLeod led Godiva home in 13th place in a time of 33 mins 54 secs with Scott Hudspith just behind in 14th in 34 mins 1 sec.
Next to cross the line was Alistair Smith (17th, 34 mins 14 secs), Harvey Speed (21st, 34 mins 42 secs), Edward Griffiths (32nd, 35 mins 39 secs), Daniel Dalton (42nd, 36 mins 28 secs), Clark Roberts (47th, 37 mins 3 secs) and Sam Marshall (49th, 37 mins 14 secs).
Further back were Phillip Gould (54th), Munya Mukesi (76th), Peter Eccleston (82nd), Will Swindells (87th), Kevin Otieno (89th) and Nathan Jones (95th).
Outside the top-100 were Will Averill (107th), Jacob Jones (108th), John Treadwell (109th), David Cooper (118th), Jose Ortiz Gonzalez (121st), Thiago De Modena (126th), Caiden Tate (127th), Wais Yip (129th), Dan Brown (132nd), Muhammad Ibrahim (139th), Dale Ball (140th), Martin Gittins (152nd), Simon Clarke (155th), Daniel Gaggini (156th), Garry Flude (185th) and Matthew Danes (193rd).
Godiva also enjoyed success in the under-17 women’s race as Krista Bennett won individual bronze with a time of 18 mins 36 secs whilst Hattie Garnett (11th, 20 mins 55 secs) and Shona Murray (17th, 25 mins 43 secs) helped the team win silver.
