ATHLETICS - Plenty of Spring running for Coventry Godiva Harriers

COVENTRY Godiva Harriers enjoyed a busy spring after the cancellation of the National Cross Country Championships.

Some 15 Godiva athletes competed at the new Podium Festival 5k in Leicester to begin their road season.

In the women’s race, Sophie Hurst finished in a time of 17 minutes 26 seconds while Miles Clisham led the men home in a time of 14 mins 11 secs with Will Fuller just behind in 14 mins 44 secs.

The other finishers were: Lucas Bennett in 15 mins 8 secs, Joe McLeod in 15 mins 31 secs, David Cooper and Kevin Otieno in 16 mins 51 secs, Will Chalmers in 17 mins 40 secs, Tom Beesley in 18 mins 22 secs, Waising Yip in 19 mins 13 secs, Muhammad Ibrahim in 20 mins, Chris Hurst in 20 mins 48 secs, Martin Gittins in 20 mins 56 secs and Ben Hoskings in 21 mins 10 secs.

Elsewhere, the club’s A team finished 16th in the Midland 12-stage road relays with the B team in 46th place after 10 legs at Sutton Park.

The A team finished in an overall time of 4 hours 17 mins and 49 secs as Clisham ran the second fastest leg of the competition.




And the A team comprised of Clisham, Scott Hudspith, Fuller, Jamie Hnatushka, McLeod, Nick Woolley, Matthew Hadlum, Andrew Boon, Peter Eccleston, Adam Jackson, Harvey Speed and Otieno.

The B team comprised of Jason Brotherhood, Samuel Katanda, Chris Hurst, A Mitrofaniuk, Jose Ortiz Gonzalez, Thiago Demodena, Ambrose Lee, John Treadwell, James Wright and Christopher Reve.


And in the National 12-stage road relays, Godiva placed 36th to finish seventh out of the Midlands teams again at Sutton Park in an overall time of 4 hrs 46 mins 9 secs.

The team comprised of Clisham, Woolley, Hudspith, Lee, McLeod, Eccleston, Boon, Hadlum, Wright, Dan Taylor, Dan Clarke and Jackson.
