DANNY STEWART has admitted his Blaze side have to play the full 60 minutes if they are to start winning games after suffering another pointless weekend on ice.

Blaze went down 4-1 on two occasions during the weekend, firstly to Belfast at home on Saturday before losing on the road in Edinburgh 24 hours later.

The Skydome outfit now sit eighth in the Elite League table with only Edinburgh and Dundee sitting below them – both teams of which have games in hand.

Despite making the better start on Saturday, Coventry conceded three times in just five minutes as Derrick Walser netted once and Blair Riley lit the lamp on two occasions – one from a near 90 degree angle.

Steve Saviano bagged a fourth for the Giants shortly into the third period, Blaze’s only success came minutes before the final buzzer when Jim Jorgensen batted home a loose puck at 58.42.

There was further misery for Stewart’s side north of the English boarder on Sunday night as Edinburgh slotted another four goals past Brian Stewart’s net – meaning the Blaze suffered their ninth defeat in 11 games.

Despite Danny Stewart admitting his side’s performance in the third period on Sunday night was their best all weekend, he openly admitted its up to him to right the ship and hold players accountable.

He said: “The only way to get through this is sticking together, if you start to point fingers it falls apart.

“When you struggle to score goals it puts pressure on the rest of your game – we’re already struggling and when we gave up that first goal on Saturday night our heads did drop.

“We’re not panicking by any means but we are a team that takes pride in putting in a good performance at home.

“Crowds are showing up they’re supporting us and we want to put good performances in for them – the guys are working hard, we’ve just got to work a little bit smarter and get some luck.”
