FOOTBALL: A FOOTBALL coach from Binley has passed his Level Three FA Youth coaching module.

Charlie Jones is now fully qualified to coach up to youth elite levels equivalent to Premiership academies after demonstrating the ability to analyse performance within the principals of play and show an aptitude for creating training programmes and match play roles for individual players.

The 25-year-old PE teacher at Moseley Primary School in Coundon is currently head coach for Hinckley’s Leicester Road FC Under 16s side, who are flying high in the Midland Junior Premier League.

Before a serious injury halted progress, Charlie played himself for Hawkesmill Sports FC and Woodlands FC.

The Binley resident said: “I really enjoyed gaining my qualification and learnt a lot about different coaching styles to maximise a squad system and intervention strategies that are all about thinking on your feet.

“I also had a to do a lot of coursework in a short space of time just before the assessment on identifying six areas of individual, unit or team developmental needs.

“It’s really helped as this season we managed to use a vast number of U16s in the U18s match day squads as part of the club’s progression philosophy.

“Four youth players have also made it into the first team squad too.”
