Blaze bites: Shortbench headache for Stewart as Bebris quits and Moisio picks up suspension

ICE HOCKEY: LATVIAN forward Edgars Bebris has departed Coventry Blaze with immediate effect, leaving Danny Stewart with a hole to fill ahead of a busy Christmas schedule.

Stewart, who will also miss the services of Patrick Moisio over Christmas due to a suspension, will face another week with a bench short of players.

Bebris joined Blaze on a trial basis in August, which subsequently earned him a contract following a string of strong performances during pre-season.

He appeared 27 times for the club.

Head coach Danny Stewart said: “The timing of this decision is not ideal, but we carry on as normal.”

It is expected that Gustav Ahnelov and Brett Robinson will return to the Blaze bench this weekend for the club’s home clash against Milton Keynes.

  • BLAZE will be without the services of Patrick Moisio this weekend after the Finn picked up a three-match ban.

Moisio picked up a match penalty for checking to the head and a five minute penalty for fighting following an incident against the Manchester Storm on Sunday, which saw the lively 25-year-old crash his way into the boards.

Moisio is suspended until Coventry’s away game against Nottingham Panthers on Saturday, December 30.
