Blaze extend trial for new defenceman James Isaacs

NEW COVENTRY Blaze signing James Isaacs has extended his trial for a further two weeks after helping the Blaze move off the foot of the Elite League table.

With wins against two of the league’s in form sides – Dundee and Sheffield – Blaze headcoach Chuck Weber was delighted with the defenceman’s performance and said that he played as he was advertised.

“I am sure the fans that saw our games this weekend recognise the effort James made to impress them and us,” said Weber.

“He deserves the chance to stay with us for longer.

“His attitude has impressed us and we’re looking forward to seeing what the next two weeks bring for James and the team as well.”

With crucial double-headed games on the horizon against Cardiff, Nottingham and Belfast, Blaze director of Hockey, James Pease, added to Weber’s praise.

He said: “It all happened so quickly with James.

“We spoke initially, and it was clear the guy wanted to get on the ice and impress us.

“Before we knew it he was here, with stick and skates in hand and ready to go.

“To come in, to a new dressing room, not knowing most of the guys, and having to learn systems quickly isn’t an easy thing to do.

“Isaacs has done a good job for us so far – therefore we are more than happy to extend his trial.”

Coventry take on the Dundee Stars tomorrow night (December 23) then face the Cardiff Devils away (December 26) before the home tie on Sunday (December 27) at 5.15pm.
