Coventry Editorial 22nd Mar, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

COVENTRY BLAZE trio Ashley Tait, Russell Cowley and Ross Venus have all been called up to the Great Britain squad to face Poland next month.

The news comes just days after the Blaze booked their place in the playoff quarter final stage, where they will face Sheffield Steelers at the Skydome Arena on Saturday night (March 26) for the first leg.

Great Britain will face Poland in two exhibition games on Saturday (April 9) at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham and Sunday (April 10) at the Skydome Arena in Coventry.

The back-to-back series will form part of GB’s preparation for the World Championships in Zagreb to be held from Sunday (April 17) to Saturday (April 23).

To add to the call ups, Blaze head coach Chuck Weber has been appointed as part of the coaching team.

The Blaze forward line will make up part of a 28-man squad which head coach Pete Russell will cut to 23 ahead of the tournament in which GB will face hosts Croatia in the Division 1B tournament.

GB head coach, Pete Russell, said: “I am delighted to announce the addition of Chuck Weber to our coaching team.

“Chuck is very organised, has great knowledge of the game and his video analysis skills are unreal.

“During the last year I have got to know him more and more.

“He will be a great fit for our group.

“He will only make our coaching team stronger.”

Blaze head coach Chuck Weber added: “I am excited to be a part of this Group and am looking forward to working with Pete, Tom, and the rest of the guys.”
