WARWICKSHIRE Ladies secured a narrow 112-108 win against Leicestershire to claim their second Middle England League victory of the season at Kirby Muxloe Bowling Club.

Highest winning rink went to Jenny Corn with Jayne Henfrey and Margaret Grosvenor (all Lillington) and Ros Taylor (Avenue Coventry) who pulled clear to claim a comfortable 25-10 winning scoreline.

Di Medhurst (Nuneaton) with Lynne Innes (Stratford), Donna Kerr (Lillington) and Yvonne Bromfield (Rugby Thornfield) were evenly matched with their opposition after eight ends but five shots over the next two ends saw them claim a 17-14 win.

Debbie Bloxham (Stratford) with Liz Crispin (Wolvey), Joy Cooke (Sherwood Park) and Liz Crowther (Lillington) started well to lead 7-1 after five ends only for Leicestershire to make an impressive recovery and win 19-18.

Heather Mills (Grange Ladies) with Caroline Harris (Nuneaton), Dawn Horne and Janice White (both RLS) also started well on their way to a one-shot 19-20 defeat.

Chris Cooke (Southam) with Pippa Mace (Lillington), Elaine Taylor (Stoke) and Margaret Colvin (Snitterfield) were beaten 24-20.

And Maureen Edwards (Rugby Thornfield) with Anita Cowdrill (RLS), Vivienne Belt (Sherwood Park) and Trish Jarvis (Wolvey) were up against it from the start as they suffered a 13-21 defeat.

Elsewhere, Warwickshire Ladies travelled to Faringdon Bowling Club in Oxfordshire for their Walker Cup Double Rink game against Wiltshire.

And Warwickshire started well as Jenny Corn (Lillington) with Aleen Shuttleworth (Stoke), Wendy Hobbis and Tracy Wheeler (both Welford) went 10-0 up at five ends only for Wiltshire to turn the tables and level the game up after 10 ends.

Kirsty Richards (Whitnash) with Dawn Horne (RLS), Gill Maund (Sherwood Park) and Heather Mills (Grange Ladies) were level pegging at seven-all after 10 ends which soon became 16-all at the 18th end.

And the two teams finished on 45-apiece which required an extra end as Warwickshire just fell short to suffer defeat.
