BRINKLOW’S grip on top spot in Division D of the Coventry & Warwickshire Youth League has weakened after they lost 3-0 to Leamington Brakes.
It was a first home defeat this season for the under-15 side, with Joseph Cross, Kai Harrison and William White scoring for the Brakes who go up to second.
After a lively opening, the visitors went in front through a header, before Dan Frodsham went closest for the hosts with a shot that was well saved before the break.
Although Brinklow went up a gear and threatened on several occasions through Kye Gilbey, the visitors doubled their lead following a long ball upfield.
Despite the hosts’ best efforts, Leamington rounded off their victory with a late goal.
The result means the Brakes have closed the gap to Brinklow to five points with two games in hand.
Brinklow visit Whitley Juniors on Sunday while Leamington host Coventrians (both 11am).
