FOOTBALL: FORWARD Josh Barrett has joined the Sky Blues on loan until the end of the season from Championship club Reading.

The 19-year-old, who is a Republic of Ireland U21 international, will begin training with his new team mates on Saturday.

Barrett signed his first professional contract with Reading at 17 after impressing with the club’s Under 18s side, where he skippered the youth squad to the quarter finals of the FA Youth Cup.

He made his Championship debut for the Royals at the end of the 2015/16 season against Huddersfield Town.

Last year, he represented the Royals’ Under 23s, scoring six goals in 31 appearances.

City boss Mark Robins said: “We are delighted to be able to bring Josh to the club and for him to be a part of what we hope will be a successful season.

“With the right hard work and determination, we are sure that he will enjoy a successful spell with us until the end of the season.”
