BRINKLOW blew away Leamington Brakes in a 5-2 thriller in the Coventry Minor U14’s League at the weekend.
The Brakes raced into the lead against the run of play early on, but were pegged back by Ryan Prior’s leveller, lobbing the ball over the keeper, before Dan Fordsham tapped in from close range for the go-ahead goal before the interval.
A corner-kick scramble allowed Leamington to strike a leveller to take the scores to 2-2.
From there, the game descended into an end-to-end affair, but three late goals settled it for Brinklow.
Harry Shorten’s 40-yard run to goal and exquisite shot into the back of the net proved the winner, which was backed up by Kye Gilbey’s similar solo run and finish.
Leo Reilly was the beneficiary of Gilbey’s pinpoint cross, guiding the ball past the keeper to seal the win.
