British trio agree two-way deals with Coventry Blaze

Coventry Editorial 29th Jun, 2018   0

THE BRITISH trio of Ollie Lord, Matthew Maurice and Edward Knagg have all agreed two-way deals with Coventry Blaze for the upcoming 2018/19 Elite League season.

Knaggs, 20, is a left-shot defenceman who last season enjoyed a brief time in the Elite League with Milton Keynes Lightning, icing five times with two assists.

More regularly, he was part of the Peterborough Phantoms NIHL squad playing 31 times with ten points.

Before that, the Hemel Hempstead-born player spent two years with MK in the EPIHL, winning the EPIHL Cup and play-off double in 2016/17.

He is a regular at under-18s and under-20s level with Team Great Britain, winning three bronze medals.

Throughout his junior career with MK and Bracknell, he also represented Team South West at U13, U15 and U17 levels in the annual Conference weekend.

Knaggs will spend 2018/19 with the Bracknell Bees of the NIHL.

Lord, 17, is also a left-shot defenceman who is a product of the Blaze Academy System playing last season with Blaze NIHL and Milton Keynes Thunder, also of the NIHL where he will continue to play for 2018/19.

With the Blaze U20s, Lord, who was born in Leamington Spa, is a back-to-back national champion, also winning the EIHA Conference at U17s on two occasions.

Maurice, 20, a left-shot forward, is also a product of the Blaze Academy System.

For the past three seasons he has been part of the Solihull Barons NIHL squad posting 55 points in 67 games.

He’ll continue with the Barons over 2018/19.

All three players will spend most their time next season playing in the NIHL but will also train regularly with the Elite League Blaze team and be available for selection where possible.
