Cal Crutchlow to remain at Ducati next season

Coventry Editorial 23rd Jul, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016

CAL Crutchlow will remain with the factory Ducati team for the next year’s MotoGP season.

The Coventry-born rider has taken up the option in his contract to remain with Ducati in 2015 along with fellow team mate Andrea Dovizioso who has re-signed for the next two seasons.

The announcement was made on Saturday during World Ducati Week at Misano by team project director,

Paulo Ciabatti.

He stated: “Dovizioso has renewed his contract this morning, Cal has a contract with us for next season and he will continue in the official team next year.”

Crutchlow has endured a nightmare start to his Desmosedici career, with a series of technical problems, accidents and a hand injury meaning he has finished just four out of a possible nine races.

The 28-year-old has been a shadow of the rider who took four podium finishes after coming fifth in last year’s World Championships while with Yamaha.

Crutchlow had an option to continue for another year or look for a new team.

But his decision to stay shows his support for Ducati’s general manager, Gigi Dall’Igna whose work on improving the Ducati engine will not come into fruition until next year.
