COVNETRY Blaze head coach Danny Stewart has confirmed 23-year-old Canadian forward Dillon Lawrence has signed a contract to remain with the club until the end of the 2018/19 Elite League season.
The Toronto native who initially joined the club on a trial basis has so far played ten games in Elite League competitions.
Prior, Lawrence spent last season with the Edinburgh Capitals and during the recent summer iced in the Australian Ice Hockey League with Melbourne Ice where in 21 appearances he registered 17 goals and 16 assists for 33 points.
Stewart said: “Dillon has come in and bought into his role without a second thought.
“He’s had a great attitude during his stint here and not complained once.
“He gets better every week and pushing me to give him more ice time.
“This decision was made before the weekend, but with the bad news regarding V (Ross Venus), it opens the door for him and Alex Forbes to get some more ice time.
“He gives us more depth and quality depth.”
