A FIFTH successive win at Notingham Forest Ladies has pushed Coventry City Ladies three points clear in the Women’s Premier League Northern Division.
Craig Nicholls’ side headed into Sunday’s trip to the East Midlands high in confidence following last Sunday’s 5-0 win against Blackburn.
And it was midfielder Helen Dermody who bagged the only goal of the game on 16 minutes.
A neat passing move involving Ashleigh Neville, Katie Lowder and Amber Hughes saw the latter drive into the area before crossing for Dermody who headed home from close range.
“We knew it would be a battle and we worked hard for the full 90 minutes.” said manager Nicholls.
“I think we created opportunities again but some just didn’t fall in our favour.
“I was a bit disappointed by the fact that we were dragged down in some aspects of our play but the players share that disappointment and that shows great attitude and desire to reach the standards we set at this club.
“It’s another three points though which we’ve had to grind out, and to win when we weren’t at our best is a sign of a good side.”
