COVENTRY & North Warwickshire’s batters endured a day to forget as they suffered a three-wicket defeat to Moseley Ashfield in the final match of the 2021 Warwickshire League Premier Division season.
Only three batsmen got into double figures as Cov were dismissed for 94 in the 31st over before Moseley reached their target in just 23 overs.
Having elected to bat, Cov were always battling to repair the early damage after being 28-4. Marco Higgins top-scored with 26, Andul Basir hit 24 and George Neal added 10 but the final four wickets were skittled for just nine runs. Sultan Afsal claimed 4-15 and Ian Carey 3-28.
Led by Warwick Paull (40), an opening stand of 44 soon put Moseley on their way and though Sameer Vohra (4-45) and Neal (3-29) kept chipping away with wickets they were across the line in 22.3 overs.
Cov & NW ended the season third in the table, ahead of Moseley Ashfield in fourth, and behind champions Stratford.
