RIDERS from Coventry-based cycling team, Team MI Racing Townsend Vehicle Hire, have made a strong start to the mountain bike and time trial season.
Team rider Holly Bradbrook won the senior female category and finished ninth overall in the first round of the Welsh Enduro Series at Llandegla Forest in North Wales.
And Holly, along with sister Layla, then competed in round two of the British mountain bike Cross Country Championships at Margam Park near Port Talbot.
Layla raced in the female elite category and finished 15th in her first year as an elite category rider to sit 11th overall in the standings.
Sister Holly raced in the sport/expert category and finished an impressive fifth in the elite category where she sits fourth overall.
MI Racing’s Nick Whitley, Nick Popham and Phil Roach also competed at Margam Park.
Whitley placed eighth in the masters 50 category with Popham down in 33rd place with the pair seventh and 20th overall in the standings.
And in the masters 60 race, Roach finished 13th to sit 19th overall.
MI Racing’s time trial riders have endured a busy few weeks of competition.
Nuneaton-based rider David Mead finished fifth in the Melton Olympic 10-mile race in a time of 19 minutes 2 seconds.
Recent signing Joe Murray, aged 64, crossed the line in 21 mins 25 secs with teammate Simon Law just two seconds further back.
However, the combined times of Mead., Murray and Law saw the trio win the team prize.
MI Racing’s Michael Wills (22 mins 46 secs) and 78-year-old rider Michael Allen (24 mins 19 secs) also competed in the event.
Elsewhere, some nine MI Racing riders took part in the the 39th edition of the Diana Cooke Memorial open 10-mile time trial, hosted by Coventry Cycling Club.
Leamington-based rider and defending 2024 champion Diana Egerton-Warburton finished third in the female category with Rugby-based teammate Zoe Shepherd in fourth.
And in the open road bike category, Gregory Ashley finished fourth while David Mead finished second in 20 mins 31 secs in his category.
Murray placed sixth, with Andy Oliver 10th, Wills 13th, Thomas Bradley 14th and David Garrett 19th
The combined times of Mead, Murray and Oliver meant that Team MI Racing were the fastest team on the day.
