RUGBY LEAGUE: COVENTRY Bears will start their 2017 home campaign this Sunday as they welcome Cumbrian side Barrow Raiders to the Butts Park Arena.
The Bears opening their campaign last weekend against a much fancied Doncaster side away from home.
Boosted with the presence of multiple Super League players, Doncaster made light work of Coventry who lost the clash 26-4 – though signs of promise were on display throughout the game.
Having been knocked out of the cup the week before at Hunslet, Bears coach Tom Tsang is hopeful his team can build on what was a respectable performance in Doncaster.
He said: “Doncaster was always going to be a tough game especially away, but our focus was on our own performance after some very honest conversations with players after the poor showing at Hunslet.
“This performance was a massive improvement and we now have something solid to build on when we face Barrow.”
Barrow won their opening fixture of the season convincingly against York, beating them 28-0.
Last season the Bears were beaten at home by Barrow 0-34 – and Tsang said his side must improve on that score.
Bears team to play Barrow: Roper
Freeman, Bass, Medforth, Hunte, Prior, O’Mara, Geurtgens, Gaylor, Aldred, Reid, Barratt, Sharratt, Russell, Gover, Beddows, Johnson.
Tickets for Sunday’s game are priced £12 for adults, £10 concessions and £5 youths with under 12s free. Kick off is at 3pm.
