REVENGE will be on the cards for Coventry Bees after they were handed an Elite League play-off semi-final clash against reigning champions Poole.
Gary Havelock’s side lost out to Poole in last year’s final and will be looking to put the record straight this year when the two sides go head-to-head later this month.
The Pirates have finished top of the table and have elected to face the Bees with the first leg of the semi-final taking place at Brandon on Monday September 14.
The two sides do battle in the second leg on September 21, while Belle Vue take on Swindon in the other semi-final.
“I’m very happy with the selection, it’s an opportunity for us to put the record straight and it should be a fantastic semi-final,” said Bees promoter Mick Horton.
“Meetings between Coventry and Poole are normally the biggest of the season, and we don’t really feel we’ve had a fair crack at those so far this year.
“I’m not totally surprised Poole have made that choice because they don’t go particularly well at Belle Vue, but really I think both of these ties could be too close to call and any one of the four clubs could take the title.”
