COVENTRY Blaze coach Chuck Weber feels the full-time availability of David Clements has come at the ideal time.
The Coventry-born player had been on a two-way deal with English Premier League side Milton Keynes Lightning, for whom he will still play for when appropriate.
The 21-year-old lives and attends university in Coventry and found the 100-mile round trip to Milton Keynes an increasing challenge.
But with Steven Chalmers sidelined for a few weeks, Clements stepped in on the blue-line for the games against Sheffield Steelers and Cardiff Devils last Friday and Sunday respectively.
“Unfortunately for David the commute to Milton Keynes just got too much,” said Weber. “We talked about him all along as a guy we would bring up if we were able to.
“We welcome him with open arms. He is a talented young guy and playing at this pace and playing with this group will speed up his development process and hopefully we will continue to see good things from him along the way.
“David was fantastic in the two games over the weekend and with Steven out for a couple of weeks, what an addition to step in.
“Chalms is a great young man and we are hoping to have him back in mid-December.”
