COVENTRY City will celebrate the life of Ernie Hunt on the opening day of the season.
The Sky Blues legend passed away in June at the age of 75.
A Coventry City spokesperson said: “On Saturday August 4 against Scunthorpe United, the Sky Blues, alongside the Former Players Association, will be celebrating Hunt’s contribution to the club and football as a whole.
“Teammates and contemporaries of Hunt from his time at the club will be in attendance, alongside colleagues from spells at Swindon, Bristol City, Wolves and Everton as guests of Coventry City, as well as Ernie’s family.
“There will be a minute’s applause ahead of kick-off, and Hunt’s former Sky Blues teammates will be welcomed pitchside before the game too.
“A tribute video will be shown on the big screen, while there will also be tributes in the matchday programme.”
During his time with the club Hunt made 173 appearances and scored 51 goals – including the memorable ‘Donkey Kick’ goal.
The club announced supporters are able to book a place in the matchday restaurant to dine alongside the former players.
The package is £59 plus VAT per person or £49 plus VAT for season ticket holders, while it is £29.50 plus VAT for Under 12s.
The day includes:

– Padded seat in the corporate seating area
– Complimentary matchday programmes and team sheets
– Half-time tea and coffee
– Man of the Match interview and presentation
– VIP car parking (one space per four places booked)
