FOOTBALL: COVENTRY City’s defence of their Checkatrade Trophy crown will start with group stage games against Shrewsbury Town, Walsall, plus one Category One club.
The Sky Blues have been drawn in Group E alongside League One teams Shrewsbury and Walsall while the Category One club will be confirmed on Wednesday, July 12.
Last season’s tournament turned into a memorable one for Sky Blue fans as Mark Robins guided his team to Wembley glory following a 2-1 win against Oxford United in front of 72,000 fans.
Teams in the Category One draw are: Everton, Leicester City, Manchester City, Middlesbrough, Newcastle United, Stoke City, Sunderland, and West Bromwich Albion.
