Coventry Editorial 26th Jun, 2017   0

GOLF: FOUR home club members are amongst a field of more than 60 keen young golfers competing in a regional Junior World Championship qualifier at Brandon Wood Golf Club this weekend.

Joshua Gardner, Freddy Annals, Abigail Herbert and Jayan Parmar will be looking to make the most of local knowledge on Sunday, July 2, as they attempt to move one step closer to playing in the 2018 IMG Academy Junior World Championships in San Diego.

With boys and girls representing 54 different Golf Clubs in six age categories, Roxanne Lindsay (Coventry) and Anthony Bridgeman (The Belfry) will also be taking part.

The top two from the under 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15-17 age groups will claim a place in the national finals in October.

They will then be chasing a dream summer trip to compete in the 2018 IMG Academy Junior World Championships, whose previous champions include multiple major winners Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson.
