THE SEARCH for a first win of the 2016 season stretched to eight matches for stuggling Coventry & North Warwickshire after they drew with Oswestry in the Birmingham League Division One.
After winning the toss, Coventry elected to put their opponents in to bat first and a total of 209 from 55 overs looked like a target that the home side could reach.
Xavier Clarke top-scored for Oswestry with 61 before he was caught by Jonathan Miles after being bowled by Harry Horsley, but the pick of the bowlers for Coventry was Greg Ricketts who collected three wickets and conceded 68 runers from 16 overs.
The hosts made the worst possible start in their reply with Zuhaib Akhlaque, Harry Horsley and Tony Bristow all getting bowled out early on with Coventry on 12 for 3.
A decent knock of 42 by Jonathan Miles helped steady the ship and Amrinder Singh Brar scored 58 as Coventry reached 122- for 5.
It looked as though Oswestry would go on to claim the final four wickets but Jack Horsley, James Silk, Warrick Fynn and Greg Ricketts managed to see out 90 balls between them as Coventry ended up on 160 for 8 from their 55 overs.
Coventry are next in action this Saturday when they travel to Wombourne.
