COVENTRY’S sports clubs have paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II who died yesterday (September 8) at the age of 96.
The late Queen passed away peacefully at Balmoral yesterday afternoon, a Buckingham Palace statement confirmed.
Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-reigning monarch in British history and her Platinum Jubilee was marked in the UK and around the World earlier this year.
And many of Coventry’s sports clubs have paid their respects following the news.
EFL Championship club Coventry City tweeted: “Coventry City Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
“We join the nation in mourning, and our condolences are with the Royal Family.”

FA Women’s Championship side Coventry United Women tweeted: “All of us at Coventry United are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our majesty, Queen Elizabeth.
“We join the nation in mourning over our great Queen and we send condolences to the Royal Family at this difficult time.”

RFU Championship club Coventry RFC released the following statement: “We are all deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, and our thoughts and sincere condolences are with the Royal Family at this time.”

Coventry-based Gallagher Premiership side Wasps tweeted: “Wasps joins the nation in mourning the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
