A TOTAL of 12 different scorers got in on the act as Coventry United Ladies hit double figures for the third time this season against Knowle Ladies in the third round of the Birmingham Country Cup.

The Toms thumped Knowle 14-0 at the Robins Nest on Sunday to book their place in the quarter-final of the competition.

Jess Lundie, Lottie McElroy, Ali Hall, Crissy Torkildsen and Ali Livermore were all handed starts as manager Michael Foy shuffled his pack during a busy spell for the club.

The visitors were soon off the mark with Lundie firing home from close range after five minutes and just three minutes later Annabel Johnson doubled Coventry’s lead with a low drive into the bottom corner.

With 23 minutes gone it was 3-0 thanks to a deflected 20-yard shot from former Birmingham City Ladies midfielder Torkildsen before a fourth goal arrived on 34 minutes thanks to Helen Dermody.

Lundie grabbed her brace three minutes later with a very well-taken goal and they bagged another just before the break when Anna Wilcox was brought down inside the area and Torkildsen hammered home the resultant sport kick.

Coventry did not let up in the second half and it too just two minutes before a seventh goal came in the shape of Garner who headed Hall’s cross from the right.

The second goal of the half came on 52 minutes when substitute Maz Gauntlett set up skipper Natasha Lynch to score a rare goal before a second penalty was awarded for a foul on Jade Brooke and Gauntlett sent Smurthwaite the wrong way.

With 15 minutes remaining the visitors hit double figures through Hughes and Neville’s persistence paid off six minutes later when she bagged her sixth goal in the three games this year.

Dermody and Gauntlett both got in on the act again late on before Brooks completed the rout four minutes from time with a deflected effort.
