THE CITY of Coventry Swimming Club’s water polo side progressed to the final of the ASA British Championship in Lancaster before losing out to winner Liverpool.
Coventry came up against the City of Manchester in the semi-final and having beaten their opponents twice in the British National League, they were confident of making the final for the first time in 13 years.
It proved to be a tense match but Coventry eventually won 9-6 with Claire Walmsely scoring a hat-trick to set up a final showdown with Liverpool who themselves beat Otter in the final four.
It was always going to be a tough game for Coventry against the British League Champions and it was Liverpool who ran out 6-2 winners to lift the trophy.
