CYCLING - More success for Team Enable

TEAM Enable-MI Racing-Townsend Vehicle Hire enjoyed more success as Layla Bradbrook finished as the first placed junior in the female ‘Crank It’ Mountain cross-country race.

Bradbrook excelled in dry and fast conditions at Sherwood Pines Forest to finish fifth overall behind older and more experienced riders.

She is the current Welsh junior mountain bike champion while at the same event, Nick Whitley finished second in the grand veteran’s category race.

Elsewhere, the time trial season swung into action as Team Enable’s Zoe Shepherd, from Rugby, took first place in the female road bike category in the Northampton and District 10m race.

Leamington-based rider and current Israeli time trial champion, Didi Egerton-Warburton finished second in an individual time trial and fifth overall competing in a World Championship qualifying event in Cyprus.

And Egerton-Warburton’s performance means she has now qualified for the World Championships which take place later this year in Denmark.

Elsewhere, Rob O’Connor, Pete Busby, Andy Oliver and Steve Dunton used the Salisbury Plain Easter Epic Gravel 93km event as part of their preparation for the Gravel World Championship qualifying race in Scotland next month.

And a number of riders and representatives visited the offices of main sponsor Enable in Stratford.

Enable have sponsored the team since the beginning of 2023 and in recognition of the rebate management platform company’s support, the club presented Enable with a framed jersey.

The jersey commemorates the team’s success at this year’s National Cyclo-Cross Championships held in Scotland.

Team president, Peter Hindle MBE, highlighted the team’s successful year in 2023 in a speech with Elizabeth Lavelle honoured to accept the jersey on the company’s behalf.

The team have recently signed a new sponsorship deal with Rugby-based company Townsend Vehicle Hire.

After the sad death of the team’s founder and cycling legend, Mick Ives, the added support of the company will ensure the team continues to operate as one of the top amateur racing teams in the country.
