OLIVER Searle secured his first road race victory riding for Team Enable-MI Racing-Townsend Vehicle Hire.
The Hinckley-based rider attacked the bunch on the penultimate lap to claim a fine solo win at the Wolverhampton Wheelers event.
He finished over one minute and 30 seconds ahead of the second-placed rider with the race shortened to just over 50 miles due to Storm Kathleen.
Further north, in similarly tough conditions, the team’s oldest active rider, Mick Allen, rode the API Anglia Sport race at the Darley Moor circuit near Ashbourne.
Midweek club time trials have begun for 2024 and team riders have been out in force.
At the Leamington Cycling and Athletics Club five-mile event held at Gaydon, Leamington-based rider Mark Wise was third overall on the night but took first place in the road bike category in a time of 12 mins 16 secs.
And Coventry-based rider Andy Jackson was fifth overall and took third place in the road bike category in a time of 13 mins 8 secs.
At the Rugby Racing 10-mile time trial event, held on the K11/10 course at Thurlaston, Rugby based riders Greg Ashley and Zoe Shepherd both had excellent rides, battling with strong cross winds on the A45 course.
Ashley was fourth fastest on the night in a time of 24 mins 7 secs and Shepherd was 10th overall on the night and the second fastest woman in a time of 26 mins 46 secs.
