CYCLING - Team Enable enjoy more cyclo-cross success

NICK Whitley’s impressive start to the British Cycling Cyclo-Cross National Trophy Series continued with a third-place finish in round three at Moorways Stadium in Derby.

The Team Enable rider finished third in the veteran 50-plus age category while teammate Darren Atkins placed sixth with Nick Popham just behind in eighth.

Whitley sits second in the overall standings heading into round four while in the veteran 60-plus age category Phil Roach finished fifth with Pete Busby 19th and Ray Cochrane 32nd.

Elsewhere, in round four of the Leicestershire Cyclo-Cross League, at Misterton Hall near Lutterworth, Team Enable’s Kirby Bennett and Roach secured a one-two finish in the 60-plus age category.

In the same category, Alan Parsons finished 14th while in the 50-plus age category Richard Perham placed 36th with Lindsay Newman 16th overall and third in the 50-plus age category in the ladies race.
