TEAM Enable completed a time trial double as David Mead and Diana Egerton-Warburton triumphed in Coventry Cycling Club’s Diana Cooke Memorial 10-mile open race.
Held on the K11/10T course on the A45 between Rugby and Ryton, Team Enable-MI Racing-Townsend Vehicle Hire’s new singing Mead won the open category in a time of 19 minutes and 47 seconds.
And teammate Egerton-Warburton won the female category in a time of 22 mins 58 secs with the Team Enable rider the current Israeli TT champion.
Fellow Team Enable rider, Thomas Bradley, enjoyed a superb first ride in his first-ever open time trial to finish second in the road bike category in 23 mins and 5 secs.
In the same event, Greg Ashley finished 25th in 23 mins 37 secs while Zoe Shepherd started the race but failed to finish after selflessly stopping on the course to assist another rider who crashed.
And Team Enable enjoyed more success in the Hinckley Cycle Racing Club 10-mile event on the K41/10 course at Wolvey Heath.
Mead once again took first place in 20 mins 18 secs with teammate Simon Law third in 21 mins 54 secs competing in his first race of the season and Oliver Searle fourth overall in 22 mins 1 sec riding a standard road bike.
Around a dozen of the team’s riders are heading to Dumfries and Galloway next weekend to race The Gralloch – the UK round of the official UCI Gravel World series of races.
The 111km route features almost 1,800m of climbing and gives age group riders the chance to qualify for the Gravel World Championships held in Belgium later this year.
