TWO members of the Octavian Droobers have been crowned national champions following the culmination of the UK Urban League.
Nadine Wright (W21) and Peter Carey (M75) both ranked best in their age categories based on their best six or seven scores throughout the season.
Wright accrued 645 points from her best seven meetings, while Carey achieved the maximum 600 points across his six-best races.
Sheila Carey (W70) also excelled in the Ultra Vet women’s class, accumulating 664 points altogether to finish in second, while Chris McCartney (M50) placed a respectable 12th with 533 points in the Veteran men’s category.
Sue Bicknell (W75) scored 275 points throughout the season in the Hyper Vet women’s group, enough to place her in tenth, and Mike Hampton (M70) took 590.5 points from his exploits across the Ultra Vet men’s races – finishing 11th overall.
OD’s Will Gardner is currently in the Far East getting set to compete for the United Kingdom in the fourth and final round of the World Orienteering Cup series in China this weekend.
The UK are hoping to improve on their current standing of ninth and build on their tally of 94 points so far.
Octavian Droobers welcome orienteers of all ages and abilities to their next club event on Sunday, held at Brandon Wood near Coventry between 10am and 12pm.
